Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by various sources. They could run from gasoline, liquid propane or LP gas, diesel or battery. LP is a clean burning fuel ideal for numerous applications. There are some facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This enables forklifts to be refueled whenever they need. In other places, the facility will have spare LP cylinders that are able to be changed out when the equipment must be refueled.
So as to prevent potentially serious injury, specific precautions must be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For instance: be certain to put on the appropriate safety equipment such as safety glasses or goggles and heavy gloves. Turn off the forklift ignition prior to changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed firmly. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Bear in mind that it would turn in the opposite direction of a standard connection and never use any type of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
