It is important to figure out what type of needs you need prior to choosing the warehouse truck. Consider things such as how high you plan to raise your cargo, how much you have to raise, how much space you have to work in and how far you want to travel. These factors will influence your buying decision and help decipher which kind of forklift truck is truly the best one out there to suit your needs and meet your overall expectations.
Normal Aisles
Pedestrian stackers are the most inexpensive because these equipment are best used in normal width aisles and could finish ordinary warehouse stacking jobs. They are capable of easily lifting loads of less than 750kg and be able to stack them to heights of approximately 4.5 metres. A different type referred to as rider stackers could successfully raise cargo to around 6 metres.
Yet another choice to think about are reach trucks as they offer much greater lift and load capacities, whilst several models complete with telescopic forks. This characteristic enables you the ability of stacking pallets two deep. For added flexibility in handling goods, there is a multi-way and a 4-way reach truck which as the name implies, can be driven in four directions. These models are specifically great for handling bulky and long things like planks, boards and piping.
Counterbalance trucks are best suited for traveling longer distance and are a great choice for stacking jobs, particularly block stacking. They are also an excellent alternative for stacking loads which weigh more than 2 tonnes and free stacking.
A Tight Squeeze
The aisle space in a high-density storage operation will usually be much narrower, whilst the heights can be quite higher also. The Man-up telescopic lift trucks are best utilized in narrow aisle, high-bay stores. They provide the operator or driver a good view of the stacking process. There are other types called man-up combi trucks. These are fairly versatile in that they could be used for both stacking and order-picking tasks. They could be driven throughout the warehouse or utilized in narrow aisles.
