How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when utilizing a scissor lift, since the ease of working and the lift basket's security provides peace of mind while trying to carry out tasks which could have otherwise required using the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machinery make it the right option for performing tasks from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted in the lift's base. These batteries need to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This could be done without any particular equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
The machine needs to be parked next to an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place must also be in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button found inside the lift basket, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Usually, units that are older will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be sure to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger can likely happen.
