The type of vehicle usually found within factories, warehouses and various work locations where moving heavy materials from one location to another is necessary is called a forklift. The mast is the mechanism located on the front of the forklift that hydraulically lowers and raises the load. The "cat" is the protected area where the operator of the forklift sits.
Forklifts could carry loads that weigh between one to five tons. Several models can be used to carry shipping containers and much heavier loads.
Forklift tires should be maintained and checked on a regular basis. The types of tires on various forklifts differ according to factors like for example frequency of use, weight of the loads and ground surfaces. Every forklift driver should have access to replacement tires, a forklift jack and tire press.
Tire Maintenance Instructions
Carry out tire inspections on a regular basis. Watch for indications of damage and wear to the tires. If the wear on the tire exceeds 40%, it must be replaced.
When purchasing tires, ensure that you are buying the right kind - pneumatic, polyurethane or solid.
When the tire needs replacing, position the forklift jack under the tire and raise the forklift high enough that you could easily change the tires.
In order to remove the damaged tire, pull the tire from the rim using the tire press. Install the new tire and secure it well. If you are changing more than one tire and you just have one jack, lower the forklift, then reposition the jack at the next tire.
A repair company could offer on-site tire repair. If the tire is extremely big for both in-house and mobile tire presses, the damaged tire should be transported to a shop which has a stationary tire press.
